Moroccan Central Bank Reports 498.2 Billion Dirhams in Official Reserves, Currency Gains Against USD and Euro

Bank Al‑Maghrib said its official reserve assets reached 498.2 billion dirhams on 3 July 2026 – up 0.5 % from the previous week and 23 % year‑on‑year. The Moroccan dirham also strengthened, gaining 0.4 % against the US dollar and 0.2 % against the euro during the week of 2‑8 July. No foreign‑exchange bidding took place, while the central bank provided an average daily liquidity of 148.5 million dirhams, split between short‑term advances, long‑term pensions and secured loans. Interbank trading averaged 2 million dirhams with a 2.25 % interbank rate, and the 8 July auction added another 37.6 million dirhams of 7‑day advances.

Reserve level reaches 498.2 billion dirhams

According to the latest weekly indicators released by Bank Al‑Maghrib, the central bank’s official reserve assets stood at 498.2 billion dirhams on 3 July 2026. This represents a 0.5 % increase compared with the previous week and a 23 % rise over the same period last year.

Dirham strengthens in the foreign‑exchange market

During the week of 2‑8 July 2026 the Moroccan dirham appreciated 0.4 % against the US dollar and 0.2 % against the euro, as reported by the central bank.

Central‑bank liquidity operations

No bidding operations were carried out on the foreign‑exchange market in the same week. The total amount of liquidity provided by the bank amounted to 148.5 million dirhams on a daily average basis.

  • Long‑term delivered pensions: 49.6 million dirhams
  • Secured loans: 45.4 million dirhams

Interbank market activity

The average daily volume of interbank transactions was 2 million dirhams with the interbank interest rate recorded at 2.25 %.

For the auction dated 8 July 2026 (value date 9 July), the central bank injected 37.6 million dirhams in the form of 7‑day advances.
