Tehran, 2 February 2026 – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that it is evaluating a range of proposals aimed at reopening diplomatic talks with the United States and expects a tangible outcome “in the next few days,” spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told reporters.
U.S. naval forces have recently increased their presence in the Gulf, raising concerns over potential strikes on Iranian targets. Former President Donald Trump, speaking last week, claimed that “serious talks” between Washington and Tehran were already in motion.
Ali Larijani, a senior Iranian lawmaker, posted on the X platform earlier this week that discussions are ongoing and that regional countries are serving as intermediaries to convey messages between the two capitals.
Baghaei added, “Various points have been raised, and we are currently reviewing the details of every diplomatic process. We hope to achieve results within the next few days. This concerns the process and the framework of the negotiations.”
The statement was reported by Reuters.
