CDG Invest Management backs Samta Metals & Alloys with minority stake to boost Morocco’s green metal recycling

CDG Invest Management, through its Nama Fund I, has signed a definitive investment protocol with Samta Metals & Alloys, securing a minority share in the Moroccan metal‑recycling specialist. The partnership aims to develop an integrated non‑ferrous metal value chain – producing high‑purity copper cathodes, wires and aluminium alloy ingots – while relying exclusively on green energy. The initiative aligns with Morocco’s circular‑economy strategy and seeks to reduce raw‑material imports, positioning Samta as a regional hub for sustainable metal production.

CDG Invest Management secures minority stake in Samta Metals & Alloys

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, CDG Invest Management announced the signing of a definitive investment protocol with Samta Metals & Alloys, confirming the entry of Nama Fund I into the company’s capital.

Samta Metals & Alloys is developing an integrated industrial project focused on the valorisation of non‑ferrous metals and the production of copper and aluminium alloys. The venture will produce high‑purity copper cathodes, copper wire and aluminium alloy ingots to supply the local industrial ecosystem.

Key objectives of the partnership include:

  • Building a fully Moroccan non‑ferrous metal recycling chain.
  • Strengthening local value‑added supply for critical sectors such as automotive, aerospace and electrical equipment.
  • Reducing dependence on imported raw materials.
  • Supporting Morocco’s national circular‑economy strategy and the green transition of industry.
  • Using only renewable energy sources, thereby cutting the carbon footprint compared with primary metal production.

The funding from Nama Fund I will provide the resources needed to complete and accelerate the project, with the long‑term ambition of turning Samta Metals & Alloys into a North‑African hub for sustainable non‑ferrous metal production.

Comments from the parties

"We are thrilled to partner with the Samta Group on this strategic project for the local industry," said Mr. Salaheddine Kamali, Deputy CEO of CDG Invest Management. "It tackles two crucial challenges: local integration of key industrial chains and decarbonisation of our manufacturing base. Recycling copper and aluminium dramatically reduces emissions, especially when powered solely by green energy. We believe Samta Metals & Alloys can become a national and regional champion in non‑ferrous metal valorisation."

In response, Mr. Ravi Agrawal, Managing Director of the Samta Group, added: "We are honoured to work with CDG Invest Management to bring this transformative project to life. Their investment accelerates our growth and positions Samta Metals & Alloys as a regional leader for recycled copper and aluminium products. It also reaffirms our commitment to strengthening Morocco’s industrial capabilities and supporting a green, responsible production model. We thank Upline Corporate Finance for their support in this transaction."

The transaction remains subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
