The High Commission for Planning (HCP) released its quarterly survey of non‑financial merchant services and wholesale trade, covering expectations for the second quarter of 2026.

According to the poll, 23 % of wholesalers anticipate an overall increase in sales volume, while 67 % expect sales to remain unchanged.

The expected uplift is largely driven by growth in “Other specialised wholesale trade”, “Wholesale of raw agricultural products and live animals”, and “Wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco”.

On the order side, 81 % of business leaders consider the order book for Q2 2026 to be at a normal level. Employment is projected to stay stable, with 81 % of respondents expecting no net hiring changes.

In the first quarter of 2026, 59 % of wholesalers reported stable sales in the domestic market, while 22 % saw a rise.

Sector‑specific analysis shows sales gains in food‑related wholesale, raw agricultural products, and other industrial equipment, offset by declines in “Other specialised wholesale” and “Wholesale of ICT equipment”. Employment stability is confirmed by 84 % of CEOs.

Regarding inventories, 75 % of wholesalers judge stock levels as normal. Price trends are seen as stable by 54 % of firms, with 42 % anticipating a price increase.
