Major Fertilizer Supply Agreement Signed at Jorf Lasfar
On Friday, September 18, 2026, OCP Nutricrops finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, securing the supply of 3.8 million tonnes of fertilizers for the Brazilian market over the 2026-2027 campaign.
The signing ceremony took place at the OCP industrial complex in Jorf Lasfar during an official visit by a high-level Brazilian government delegation. The MoU was co-signed by Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, André de Paula, and OCP Nutricrops CEO Faris Derrij.
Five Strategic Pillars of Cooperation
The agreement goes beyond a simple supply contract, establishing a comprehensive collaboration framework structured around five complementary axes:
- Supply Security & Resilience: Guaranteeing fertilizer availability to meet Brazilian agricultural demand and strengthening supply chain resilience.
- TSP Development for Customized Nutrition: Leveraging Triple Superphosphate (TSP) as a vector for tailored plant nutrition solutions adapted to specific soils and crops.
- Soil Health & Plant Nutrition: Implementing approaches that account for Brazilian soil conditions, cropping systems, and production practices.
- Innovation & Sustainable Agriculture: Developing digital solutions, improving agricultural efficiency, and promoting low-carbon, sustainable farming models.
- Research, Training & Expertise Sharing: Fostering scientific and technical exchanges, knowledge transfer, and skill development.
Building on a 15-Year Local Presence
This MoU extends a long-standing relationship. OCP Group established OCP Brasil in 2010, embedding itself within the local agricultural ecosystem. This on-the-ground presence has enabled OCP to develop deep agronomic knowledge of Brazilian conditions and mobilize its scientific, agronomic, and industrial expertise to serve diverse production contexts.
As a global leader in phosphate fertilizers and plant nutrition, OCP Nutricrops leverages large-scale industrial integration, worldwide production and distribution capabilities, proximity to major agricultural markets, and recognized scientific expertise. This combination allows the company to enhance fertilizer supply chain resilience and sustainably support farmers with solutions tailored to local specificities.
