Blue-Chip Indices Under Pressure
The bearish momentum extended to Morocco's premier equities. The MASI 20, which tracks the exchange's top 20 companies by market capitalization, declined 0.37% to 1,338.47 points. This drop further deteriorated the index's annual performance to -9.91%, marking significant underperformance relative to the broader market.
The MASI ESG index, focused on environmental, social, and governance criteria, showed relative resilience with a modest decline of 0.08% to 1,375.25 points. The June 2027 contract fell 0.37% to 1,337.90 points, while the March 2027 contract posted an identical decline to 1,335.30 points. Near-term contracts also weakened, with the September 2026 and December 2026 expirations declining 0.33% and 0.37% respectively, settling at 1,333.80 and 1,331 points.

Market Outlook
The Casablanca exchange continues to face headwinds as heavyweight stocks weigh on benchmark performance. With the MASI 20, ESG, and Mid indices all trading in negative territory for the session, and futures contracts signaling continued caution, market participants appear to be adopting a wait-and-see approach amid uncertain conditions heading into the coming weeks.
