Main Index Performance
The MASI index advanced 0.44% to close at 18,792.25 points. This upward move has helped trim the index's year-to-date losses to just 0.29%, bringing it closer to breakeven territory for 2026. The sustained buying interest signals growing investor confidence in the market's near-term prospects.
Blue-Chip Stocks Lead the Charge
Large-cap stocks demonstrated particularly strong momentum during the session. The MASI 20 index, which tracks the exchange's 20 largest companies by market capitalization, surged 0.73% to settle at 1,362.59 points. Despite this daily gain, the index continues to face headwinds on a longer timeframe, remaining down 8.28% since the beginning of the year.
The MASI ESG index, which focuses on companies with strong environmental, social, and governance credentials, edged up 0.05% to 1,393.01 points. Meanwhile, the MASI Mid index, representing mid-cap stocks, posted a modest increase of 0.26% to finish at 1,805.32 points. The index has recorded a year-to-date decline of 1.96%, showing relative resilience compared to the large-cap benchmark.
Futures Market Activity
Derivative instruments mirrored the positive sentiment in the cash market. The MASI20 Future JUI27 contract climbed 0.75% to 1,355.80 points, while the MAR27 contract gained 0.74% to reach 1,357.80 points. Nearer-term contracts also participated in the rally, with the SEP26 and DEC26 futures advancing 0.61% and 0.74% respectively, closing at 1,360.40 and 1,359.80 points.
Market Liquidity and Capitalization
Trading activity remained healthy, with total cash market turnover reaching MAD 306,041,495. The exchange's overall market capitalization stood at MAD 1,101.86 billion (MAD 1,101,859,515,988) at the closing bell, reflecting the cumulative value of all listed securities.
