OCP Group Achieves Milestone with $1.5 Billion Hybrid Bond Issuance
The OCP Group, a global leader in phosphate and its derivatives, has successfully closed its first international hybrid bond issuance, raising a substantial $1.5 billion. This transaction is a landmark achievement, marking two significant firsts: it is the first hybrid bond issuance in dollars by OCP and the first hybrid bond issued by an African corporate entity on international markets.
The issuance, which has been met with strong investor demand, saw a book order that was 4.6 times oversubscribed, with participation from 176 investors across 23 countries. This robust interest highlights OCP's esteemed position within the global institutional investor community.
The hybrid bonds feature two tranches with different maturities and coupon rates. The first tranche, callable in April 2031, offers a coupon rate of 6.74%. The second tranche, callable in April 2036, provides a slightly higher coupon rate of 7.37%. This structure allows OCP to diversify its funding sources and manage its financial strategy effectively.
The successful issuance was arranged by a consortium of leading financial institutions, including BNP Paribas, Citi, and JP Morgan. Their involvement underscores the credibility and attractiveness of the deal to the international market.
This issuance not only strengthens OCP's financial position but also sets a precedent for other African corporates looking to access international capital markets. It reflects OCP's strategic vision and its commitment to expanding its global footprint through innovative financing solutions.
