Morocco's asset management industry has welcomed a significant leadership change as Majdouline Fakih takes on the role of Vice President at the Moroccan Association of Management Companies and Investment Funds (ASFIM). The announcement follows a unanimous vote by the association's board of directors during their meeting held on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Strategic Leadership Addition

Fakih brings extensive experience from her position as Chief Executive Officer of Saham Capital Gestion, one of Morocco's prominent asset management firms. Her appointment strengthens ASFIM's executive bureau, which now operates with a comprehensive leadership structure designed to advance the interests of Morocco's investment management sector.

Expanded Executive Committee

The association's executive leadership now comprises four key figures working in tandem to guide the industry forward. Mostafa Hassani, serving as President and General Director of Valoris Management, leads the committee. He is supported by three Vice Presidents: Souhail Chalabi, General Director of AFG Asset Management; Widad Ouardi, General Director of Alphavest Asset Management; and the newly appointed Majdouline Fakih.

Acknowledging Past Contributions

During the same board meeting, ASFIM's leadership took time to recognize the outgoing Vice President, Tahar Zerrari, for his dedicated service. The board expressed gratitude for Zerrari's commitment and substantial contributions to advancing Morocco's asset management landscape throughout his tenure. His work has been instrumental in shaping the sector's recent evolution.

Implications for Morocco's Financial Sector

This leadership transition represents continuity and fresh perspective within ASFIM's governance structure. With Morocco's asset management industry experiencing steady growth—evidenced by UCITS net assets reaching 846.6 billion dirhams in early August 2026—strong association leadership remains crucial for navigating regulatory developments and market opportunities ahead.
