Akdital moves into Tunisia with a $90 million acquisition
As part of its international growth strategy, Akdital has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100 % of the share capital of Taoufik Hospitals Group (THG) for an enterprise value of $90 million. The deal will close once the usual regulatory clearances are obtained.
About Taoufik Hospitals Group
Established in 2014, THG operates four private hospitals across Tunisia, offering more than 600 beds – including 100 intensive‑care beds. The network employs over 1,600 staff members and collaborates with a pool of more than 500 partner physicians. Each facility is positioned as a centre of excellence covering oncology, neurology, functional rehabilitation, trauma, interventional cardiology and a full multidisciplinary suite of services. The hospitals serve both local patients and an international clientele, especially from neighbouring countries and Sub‑Saharan Africa.
Financial performance
- 2024 consolidated revenue: > $45 million
- EBITDA margin: 35 %
- Net margin: 13 %
- 2025 guidance: revenue growth of roughly +15 %, driven largely by oncology
THG’s business model rests on high standards of patient care and safety, reflected in its international and local accreditations (HAS, INEAS).
Strategic fit for Akdital
The acquisition creates a complementary relationship between the two groups, merging medical expertise with aligned organisational models. It will establish a platform for knowledge exchange, operational best‑practice sharing, talent mobility and enhanced medical cooperation.
Geographic significance
Following its initial deployments in the Middle East – the Abdul Rahman Al‑Mishari Hospital in Riyadh and the Bishri Hospital in Mecca – this transaction marks Akdital’s first entry into North Africa beyond Morocco. The move underlines the group’s ambition to build a regional growth platform anchored in medical excellence and skill development.
