Precious Metals Find New Momentum

After a few days of volatility, both gold and silver recovered on Monday, with the yellow metal edging close to $4,200 per ounce and the white metal trading around $66 per ounce.

Geopolitical easing fuels the bounce

The price rally comes as the market digests the latest diplomatic breakthrough between the United States and Iran. The two sides announced a roadmap that could lead to a comprehensive peace agreement within the next 60 days, easing fears that had been sparked by threats over the Lebanon conflict and Tehran's statements about potentially closing the Strait of Hormuz.

Oil price slide adds pressure on inflation expectations

Crude oil futures continued their downward drift, reflecting the diplomatic optimism. Despite sustained barrel flows through the Hormuz Strait over the weekend, Gulf producers are preparing to raise output, which further weighs on oil prices and eases global inflation concerns.

What traders are watching next

Investors are now turning their attention to the U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, the Fed’s preferred gauge of inflation, due later this week. The Fed kept rates steady last month but signaled a more restrictive stance. Nine out of nineteen members of the Federal Open Market Committee now expect at least one more rate hike this year, possibly as early as September.
