Morocco’s Inflation Cools to 0.8% in 2025 – December CPI Shows Small Decline

December 2025 CPI Snapshot
In December 2025 the Moroccan consumer price index (CPI) fell 0.1% compared with November. The drop stems from a 0.3% decrease in the food‑price index while the non‑food index remained flat.
- Food price falls: oils & fats –3.9%, fruits –2.8%, meats –1.2%.
- Food price rises: fish & seafood +3.3%, vegetables +2.8%, dairy (milk, cheese, eggs) +0.6%, coffee/tea/cocoa +0.4%.
- Non‑food price change: fuels –0.5%.
The underlying inflation gauge, which strips out volatile items and public‑price products, slipped 0.2% month‑on‑month.
Annual 2025 Inflation Overview
Over the full year, the average CPI rose 0.8% compared with 2024. This reflects a 0.8% increase in the food index and a 0.5% rise in the non‑food index.
- Non‑food sector: transport prices fell 2.6%, while restaurant & hotel prices jumped 3.3%.
The underlying inflation indicator also recorded a 0.8% annual gain.
Regional CPI Highlights
The strongest yearly CPI increases were observed in:
- Fez : 1.7%
- Kenitra : 1.3%
- Guelmim : 1.2%
- Settat : 1.1%
- Tétouan : 1.0%
Other notable cities recorded modest gains ranging from 0.9% (Rabat, Errachidia) to 0.2% (Marrakech).
