Casablanca Stock Exchange: MASI Index Plunges 1.14% as Losses Deepen on Tuesday
The Casablanca Stock Exchange extended its losing streak on Tuesday, with the MASI index closing down 1.14% at 18,190.19 points after touching an intraday low of 18,182.89. Year-to-date, the benchmark has now shed 3.48%. The MASI 20, which tracks the most liquid large caps, fell in tandem to 1,319.48 points, deepening its YTD slump to 11.18%. Broader indices including MASI ESG and MASI Mid also finished in the red, while futures contracts on the MASI 20 settled lower across all maturities.

Market Overview
Tuesday’s session on the Casablanca Stock Exchange offered little comfort to investors, as the MASI index sank 1.14% to finish at 18,190.19 points. The benchmark touched an intraday low of 18,182.89 points before settling near that level, dragging its year-to-date performance to a negative 3.48%.
The MASI 20, a gauge of the exchange’s most liquid large-cap stocks, mirrored the broader weakness, closing at 1,319.48 points with a cumulative decline of 11.18% since January.
Broader Indices
Other major indices also ended the day in the red. The MASI ESG fell 1.66% to 1,345.26 points, though it still holds a positive annual return of 7.49%. The MASI Mid dropped 0.93% to 1,771.38 points, extending its year-to-date loss to 3.81%.
Futures Market
The derivatives market reflected the bearish tone, with all MASI 20 futures contracts closing lower. The September 2026 contract slipped 0.80% to 1,319.40 points, the December 2026 contract fell 0.83% to 1,316.70 points, and the March 2027 contract retreated 0.88% to 1,313.50 points. The June 2027 contract was almost flat, easing just 0.01% to 1,322.80 points.
Volumes and Market Capitalization
Total turnover on the cash market reached 515,639,463 dirhams, all executed on the central market. The futures market generated 396,840 dirhams in volume. Overall market capitalization stood at 1,066 billion dirhams.
