Cement Shipments Drop Nearly 19% in January as Heavy Rains Stall Construction
Cement deliveries in Morocco started 2026 on a down‑trend, falling 18.8% year‑on‑year in January. The slump is linked to unusually high rainfall, which delayed major construction projects and, consequently, reduced cement demand. Official figures show 1.044 million tonnes were supplied by members of the Association of Cement Producers (APC), compared with 1.286 million tonnes in the same month of 2025. The December 2025 figure also fell, registering a 15% drop from the previous year.

January 2026 Cement Deliveries in Morocco
According to the Ministry of Territorial Development, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, members of the Association of Cement Producers (APC) delivered 1.044 million tonnes of cement in January 2026. This represents a 18.78% decline compared with the 1.285 million tonnes shipped in the same month of 2025.
The sharp reduction is linked to unusually high rainfall during January. Heavy rain traditionally hampers the building sector, especially the structural works that drive cement consumption. Construction sites were forced to delay progress, which directly impacted cement orders.
For context, December 2025 saw deliveries of 1.098 million tonnes, already down about 15% from December 2024.
