Major concession extension and investment plan
Marsa Maroc announced a 20‑year extension of the concession for the Container Terminal 3 (TC3) at the Port of Casablanca, operated through the joint venture TC3PC. The extension is linked to a large‑scale investment programme aimed at raising the terminal’s handling capacity from 600,000 TEU to 900,000 TEU by 2030.
As part of a broader strategy to support the rapid growth of container traffic – currently valued at MAD 3 billion – the group will invest in quay extensions, new handling equipment, and expanded storage areas across its two container terminals.
These upgrades are expected to push total capacity at Casablanca to over 2 million TEU by 2030, reinforcing the port’s role as Morocco’s primary gateway for logistics and trade.
Strategic implications
The long‑term concession, combined with the capital‑intensive upgrade plan, reflects Marsa Maroc’s commitment to boost operational efficiency and sustain its competitive edge in the North African maritime sector.
