Taqa Morocco's Q2 2026 Performance: A Mixed Bag of Challenges and Opportunities
In Q2 2026, Taqa Morocco recorded a consolidated revenue of 2.13 billion MAD, representing a decline compared to 2.44 billion MAD in the same period last year. This decrease was largely influenced by planned maintenance shutdowns and an unfavorable USD/MAD currency fluctuation.
The global availability rate stood at 86.6% during Q2 2026, down from 93.4% in the previous year. The drop can be attributed to a planned minor revision at Unit 3 lasting 25 days, along with scheduled inspections at Unit 2, as part of the group’s proactive maintenance strategy.
Investments and Financial Health
Despite the revenue slump, the company showed resilience through its capital expenditure. Total investments during H1 2026 reached 515 million MAD, a substantial increase from 210 million MAD in H1 2025. These investments were primarily directed toward low-carbon development projects, the minor revision at Unit 3, and ongoing operations and maintenance across other units.
As of June 30, 2026, net debt improved significantly, standing at 4.62 billion MAD — a 10.1% reduction year-on-year, driven by strong cash flow generation and debt repayments made during the period.
Strategic Reorganization Towards Sustainability
Positioning itself as a key player in Morocco’s water and energy transition, Taqa Morocco is restructuring its operations around four core pillars: desalination, renewable energy, natural gas, and sustainable water and energy transport. On May 19, 2025, the company entered into a strategic partnership aimed at aligning growth with sustainability goals.
The board of directors approved a major restructuring initiative on July 17, 2026, which will reorganize the company under dedicated subsidiaries for each business line, moving toward a multi-asset holding model designed to enhance operational efficiency and market responsiveness.
