AKDITAL Completes Acquisition of Al Bishri Hospital in Mecca, Expanding Saudi Healthcare Footprint
AKDITAL has finalized the acquisition of a majority stake in Hôpital Al Bishri, located in the heart of Mecca, marking a strategic milestone in its Saudi expansion. The hospital will undergo a comprehensive renovation and capacity expansion program to serve both residents and the millions of pilgrims visiting annually.

AKDITAL has successfully completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Al Bishri Hospital, situated in central Mecca. The transaction follows the fulfillment of all regulatory and operational conditions outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on December 19, 2025. The facility will now operate under the name AKDITAL Makkah Al Mukarramah.
A Strategic Pillar in Saudi Arabia
This acquisition represents a significant milestone in AKDITAL's rollout across the Kingdom and aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The group aims to establish the hospital as a reference institution, combining medical excellence, patient safety, and deep integration into the local healthcare ecosystem.
Renovation and Capacity Expansion Underway
AKDITAL has already launched an extensive renovation and modernization program. Upon completion, the hospital will offer 126 beds, up from 120, alongside upgraded technical platforms, reorganized care pathways, and enhanced emergency, intensive care, cardiology, surgical, and maternal-child health capabilities.
- 19 emergency stations, including 2 resuscitation units
- 18 multipurpose ICU beds
- 8 cardiology ICU beds
- 7 neonatal ICU beds, including 1 isolation bed
- 13 nursery beds
- 7 main operating rooms + 1 obstetric OR
- 1 endoscopy room, 4 delivery rooms
- Full radiology platform and medical laboratory
Addressing Mecca's Unique Healthcare Demands
Mecca serves both its permanent population and a growing influx of pilgrims — over 18 million Omra and Hajj visitors in 2025, with a target of 30 million annually by 2030. AKDITAL's medical leadership emphasized that the hospital will play a central role in strengthening the Holy City's healthcare infrastructure during peak demand periods.
