Morocco's OPCVM Market Contracts Across All Categories in Latest Weekly Report
The net assets of Moroccan collective investment schemes (OPCVM) fell to 839.5 billion dirhams as of September 18, 2026, marking a 1.35% decline compared to the prior week. The broad-based weakness saw every major fund category report lower assets under management.
Bond Funds Maintain Leadership Despite Pullback
Medium- and Long-Term Bond OPCVMs retained their position as the largest segment of the market, although their assets slipped to 353.02 billion dirhams from 356.56 billion the previous week. Short-Term Bond funds also contracted, falling to 140.07 billion dirhams from 142.43 billion.
Money Market and Diversified Funds See Modest Erosion
Money Market OPCVMs reported net assets of 148.65 billion dirhams, a marginal decrease of just 170 million dirhams from 148.82 billion the prior week. Diversified funds experienced a more pronounced decline, dropping to 108.96 billion dirhams from 112.49 billion a week earlier.
Equity Funds Hit Hardest with Nearly 6% Drop
Equity-focused OPCVMs bore the brunt of the weekly selloff, with net assets falling sharply to 73.16 billion dirhams from 77.84 billion — a decline of approximately 6%. This significant weekly contraction highlights heightened risk aversion among investors.
Long-Term Growth Trajectory Remains Intact
Despite the weekly setback, the medium-term outlook for Morocco's OPCVM market remains encouraging. The sector has grown steadily from around 600 billion dirhams in spring 2024, progressively crossing the 700 billion and 800 billion dirham thresholds. After several corrective phases, the market regained momentum in the second quarter of 2026, underscoring the structural appeal of collective investment products in Morocco.
