Morocco's cement sector showed resilience in September 2026, with monthly deliveries surging 19.31% year-over-year to reach 1.46 million tonnes. While the robust monthly performance reflects strong construction activity, cumulative deliveries through the first nine months registered a modest 1.17% increase to 10.99 million tonnes, according to official data from the Ministry of National Territory Planning.

Morocco's cement industry posted mixed results for the first nine months of 2026, with September deliveries showing strong momentum despite a modest year-to-date performance, according to data released by the Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urban Development, Housing and City Policy.
September 2026 cement deliveries reached 1.46 million tonnes, marking a significant 19.31% increase compared to 1.22 million tonnes delivered in September 2025. This robust monthly growth suggests renewed vigor in construction activity across the kingdom.
However, the cumulative picture through September reveals more moderate expansion. Total deliveries for the nine-month period stood at 10.99 million tonnes, representing just a 1.17% uptick from the 10.86 million tonnes recorded during the same period in 2025.
Divergent Performance Across Market Segments
A closer examination of individual market segments reveals contrasting trends in cement consumption patterns:
- Distribution channel: Declined 2.75% to 5.79 million tonnes, suggesting weaker retail and small-project demand
- Ready-mix concrete (RMC): Surged 8.62% to 2.95 million tonnes, indicating robust commercial construction activity
- Infrastructure projects: Registered the strongest growth at 19.49%, reaching 842,520 tonnes as government infrastructure investments accelerate
- Precast concrete: Fell 7.21% to 1.04 million tonnes, reflecting potential slowdown in industrial construction
- Building sector: Edged up marginally by 0.87% to 314,493 tonnes
- Mortars: Decreased 4.96% to 46,690 tonnes
The sharp rise in infrastructure-related cement deliveries aligns with Morocco's ongoing public investment programs in transportation networks and urban development projects. Meanwhile, the decline in distribution channels may reflect caution among individual builders and small contractors.
These statistics are compiled from internal data provided by members of the Professional Association of Cement Manufacturers (APC), which includes major industry players: Asment Temara, Ciments de l'Atlas, Ciments du Maroc, LafargeHolcim Maroc, and Novacim.
The cement sector serves as a key barometer for Morocco's construction industry and broader economic health, with delivery volumes typically correlating with real estate development, infrastructure investment, and overall GDP growth.
