Casablanca Stock Exchange Opens Futures Market as MASI Gains and Mining Stocks Surge
On Monday, the Casablanca Stock Exchange celebrated the official launch of its futures segment with the debut of the "Future MASI 20" contract. The main MASI index closed the day up 0.48% at 17,599.70 points, narrowing its annual downside, while the broader MASI 20 index slipped 0.42%. Trading activity was modest, and the mining sector led the gains, with CMT, SMI and Managem posting double‑digit increases.

Historic Launch of the Futures Market
The Casablanca Stock Exchange (CSE) marked a milestone on Monday with the live start of its futures market. The first contract traded was the fixed‑price Future MASI 20, representing the most liquid segment of the exchange.
Key Index Movements
- MASI: +0.48% to 17,599.70 points, narrowing the year‑to‑date loss to -6.61%.
- MASI 20: -0.42% to 1,311.11 points, extending its cumulative decline since the start of the year to -11.75%.
Trading Activity
Total turnover on the central market was modest, reaching 434 million MAD. CFG Bank led the list of most active stocks with a volume of 83 million MAD, though its share price fell 1.67% to 205.5 MAD after hitting an intraday high of 209 MAD. Attijariwafa Bank followed with 77.8 million MAD traded, slipping slightly 0.18% to 680 MAD.
Mining Sector Shines
The mining segment stole the spotlight. CMT posted the biggest gain of the session, up 9.97% to 4,289 MAD. SMI rose 8.44% to 7,700 MAD, and Managem continued its rally, reaching a new high of 10,745 MAD, a 7.45% increase.
Market Capitalisation
At the close, the total market capitalisation stood at approximately 996 billion MAD.
