Cartier Saada Q1 Revenue Slides Amid US Market Pressures and Logistics Snags

Cartier Saada reported a significant 22% drop in first-quarter revenue for the 2026/2027 fiscal year, with sales falling to 54.2 MDH from 69.6 MDH in the prior year. The company attributes this decline to intense price competition in the US market and severe logistical bottlenecks, including port congestion in Casablanca and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Despite these headwinds, the firm maintained a focus on productivity with 1.1 MDH in strategic investments.

Cartier Saada Faces Steep Q1 Sales Decline in 2026/2027

Cartier Saada has reported a challenging start to its 2026/2027 fiscal year, with first-quarter revenue declining to 54.2 million dirhams (MDH) down from 69.6 MDH recorded in the same period last year. The company's export sales, which represent the vast majority of its activity at 97.72%, felt the brunt of a shifting global market landscape.

US Market Pressure and Price Competition Weigh on Sales

The primary driver behind the revenue contraction was a notable slowdown in the American market. As global prices declined, buyers in the US gained access to cheaper alternatives from more competitive producing countries. This shift forced clients to prioritize cost-effectiveness, opting for lower-priced imports over higher-volume purchases from Cartier Saada. The intense pricing pressure highlights the challenges of maintaining market share in a highly price-sensitive global environment.

Geopolitical Tensions and Port Congestion Disrupt Supply Chains

In addition to commercial pressures, Cartier Saada's operations were hampered by severe logistical disruptions. Geopolitical tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, alongside the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz, drove up international transport costs and complicated shipping routes. Domestically, the company pointed to exceptional weather conditions at the Port of Casablanca since the beginning of 2026. Repeated closures and ongoing congestion at the port have significantly delayed export timelines and increased operational overhead.

Strategic Investments Continue Despite Headwinds

Despite the challenging quarter, Cartier Saada did not halt its long-term improvement initiatives. The company allocated 1.1 MDH in investments during the first quarter, primarily focused on upgrading handling and production machinery. These investments are aimed at bolstering production efficiency and maintaining quality standards as the company navigates a turbulent market environment.
