Morocco’s Manufacturing Output Jumps 4% in Q4 2025, Food and Pharma Lead Gains
Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (HCP) reported a 4 % increase in the manufacturing production index (excluding petroleum refining) for Q4 2025 versus the same quarter a year earlier. The surge was driven by strong performances in food, pharmaceuticals, metal‑product manufacturing and transport equipment, while automotive and apparel sectors posted notable declines. Extractive industries slipped modestly and electricity generation rose.

The High Commission for Planning (HCP) reported that Morocco’s manufacturing production index, excluding petroleum refining, rose 4 % in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.
Strongest contributors
Growth was driven by several sub‑sectors:
- Food industry: +9.9 %
- Pharmaceutical industry: +28.9 %
- Metal product manufacturing (excluding machinery): +14.5 %
- Other non‑metallic mineral products: +4.8 %
- Other transport equipment: +37.1 %
- Tobacco‑based products: +4.7 %
Sectors that slipped
- Automotive industry: –6.2 %
- Apparel industry: –4.7 %
- IT, electronics and optics manufacturing: –12.6 %
- Electrical equipment manufacturing: –2.3 %
- Other manufacturing: –15.4 %
Extractive industries and energy
The extractive‑industry production index fell 4.4 %, mainly due to a 4.6 % decline in “various extractive products” despite a modest 0.7 % rise in metallic minerals. Meanwhile, electricity production increased 2.8 %.
Overall, for 2025 vs 2024 the indices rose 7 % in extractive industries, 4.1 % in manufacturing (ex‑petroleum) and 6.3 % in electric energy.
