Trump Reiterates U.S. Dominance Over the Hormuz Strait
Former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account on Wednesday to assert that the United States "has total control" of the strategic Strait of Hormuz and that it will "keep it."
In reality, the narrow waterway that routes a significant share of the world’s oil shipments is physically secured by Iranian forces, while the United States enforces a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
"The United States has total control of the Strait of Hormuz. I think we’ll keep it!" the president wrote, adding that the naval blockade is a "steel wall" that Iran cannot break.
Trump’s recent statements suggest a shift toward long‑term economic pressure on Tehran rather than new military offensives. He did not mention any upcoming diplomatic initiatives.
He also claimed that Iran’s military capabilities are crumbling: "They have no navy, no air force, and the soldiers that remain are unpaid. They have no money – the country is doomed," he wrote, citing an alleged 300 % inflation rate.
