Silver Falls to $56 per Ounce, Touching Eight-Month Low Amid Middle East Tensions
Silver prices slipped further on Thursday, settling at $56 an ounce – the lowest level in eight months. The drop is driven by renewed Middle‑East tensions that have lifted oil prices and rekindled concerns about inflation and future interest‑rate hikes. U.S. inflation data came in cooler than expected, offering brief relief, but the escalation of U.S.–Iran strikes keeps risk appetite muted for precious metals.

Silver price drops to $56 per ounce
The white metal slipped further on Thursday, settling at $56 an ounce – its lowest level in eight months. The decline is largely attributed to renewed tensions in the Middle East, which have pushed oil prices higher and revived worries about inflation and future interest‑rate moves.
Washington carried out additional strikes against Iranian targets on Wednesday. Although President Donald Trump noted Tehran’s expressed willingness to return to negotiations, the conflict escalation has kept markets on edge.
Silver found only limited support after U.S. inflation readings came in below expectations, easing fears of an imminent Federal Reserve rate hike. The U.S. producer‑price index unexpectedly fell in June, the first decline in nearly a year, driven mainly by lower energy costs. This followed a consumer‑price report that also missed forecasts.
These data do not reflect the impact of the fresh U.S.–Iran escalation, especially as the interim cease‑fire signed last month now appears effectively void.
On Wednesday, silver futures closed at $57.43 per ounce, down 2.8 %, the weakest closing level since early December 2025.
