CMGP Surpasses $100 M in Acquisition of Morocco’s CPCM, Strengthening Its Chemical Horizons

CMGP Group has agreed to purchase 92.5% of Morocco’s Compagnie de Produits Chimiques (CPCM) for almost a billion dirhams, with a future 100% takeover possible. The deal follows prior boosts of the portfolio through CAS (2021) and Agrosem (2024) and expands the firm's footprint into water‑treatment chemicals and other industrial uses. Forecasted CPCM revenue will hit 500 million dirhams in 2025, taking CMGP’s consolidated turnover to roughly 3 billion dirhams, excluding synergy gains. The move hinges on Competition Council approval, and CEO Youssef Moamah stresses the acquisition’s role in building a sustainable, multi‑sector agribusiness empire.

CMGP Group eyes near‑billion‑dirham takeover of Morocco’s CPCM

The Casablanca‑listed CMGP (BVC:CMG) has reached an agreement to acquire 92.5% of the Compagnie de Produits Chimiques du Maroc (CPCM) from ABC Holding and private investor Khalid Lahlou.

Deal scale and future ownership
Current valuation stands close to 1 billion dirhams. CMGP plans to later lift its stake to full ownership, pending regulatory clearance.

Strategic fit
Following the acquisitions of CAS in 2021 and Agrosem in 2024, the purchase further solidifies CMGP’s position in phytosanitary products and broadens its portfolio into chemicals for water treatment and other industrial uses.

Financial upside
CPCM is expected to record 500 million dirhams in revenue by 2025, which would boost the group’s consolidated turnover to roughly 3 billion dirhams, excluding potential synergy gains.

Regulatory hurdle
The finalisation of the transaction is subject to approval by the Competition Council.

CEO’s perspective
Chief Executive Youssef Moamah highlighted that the deal reflects CMGP’s ambition to build a resilient, integrated conglomerate that serves agriculture and beyond, offering a wider range of products to enhance sector competitiveness and sustainability.
